The Full Story

About us

Louise Kenward (Chair of Eastbourne IBC).

We have a new name, new logo and new shirt. With our new name I want our Club to be successful, so, what does that mean?

I want us to create a Bowls Club community of over 400 members, that increasingly offers its members a tailored Bowling and Social offering.

That means if you want to just be a social bowler, or a competitive Club bowler, no problem, you can bowl when you want, at a value for money price.

If you want to become an elite bowler, bowling for Sussex and beyond, we will help you.

I want us to be a club that has a good standing in the Bowls Community, winning trophies and having players represent Eastbourne Borough Indoor Bowls Club at Sussex level.

An increasing social programme, means that our members can socialise and have fun as well as bowl.

I want us to have a vibrant talented young people’s section that will represent the future of our club.

This is my vision for Eastbourne Borough Indoor Bowls Club to be successful.

The club's committee is fully committed to achieving the above stretching goals, and I have every confidence in them, that we will achieve the vision for a bright future for our club

Why Choose us for your Bowling?

We welcome people of all ages and abilities from those who are new to bowling as well as those who are more experienced.

Using Indoor bowls to improve your well-being.

There are three key reasons why people join an indoor bowling club; To learn a new skill, to have some exercise, and to have some great social interactions with other members.

However, there is more to indoor bowls that can help you. So considering indoor bowls for your mental health can offer there are seven benefits for your overall well-being. Here's why:

  1. Stress Reduction: Engaging in bowls can provide a therapeutic escape from the stresses of daily life. The rhythmic motion, exercise and focus required can help to calm the mind and reduce stress levels.

  2. Physical Activity: Bowls involve gentle physical activity, which has been shown to release endorphins, the body's natural mood lifters. Regular exercise like bowls can help alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety.

  3. Social Connection: Joining a bowls club with our large social offering provides opportunities for social interaction and community engagement. Building relationships with fellow bowlers can combat feelings of loneliness and isolation, promoting a sense of belonging and support. Eastbourne Borough Indoor Bowls Club have open days and taster session without obligation.

  4. Mental Stimulation: Bowls requires strategic thinking, concentration, and problem-solving skills, which can help keep the mind sharp and engaged. This mental stimulation can improve cognitive function and memory over time.

  5. Sense of Achievement: Mastering the techniques of bowls and achieving personal bests can boost self-esteem and confidence. Setting and achieving goals within the sport can provide a sense of purpose and accomplishment. So choose a Club with qualified coaches to get the best from your early experience of a bowls club.

  6. Easy access: Choose a bowling club with easy access to bowling rinks that you can book at a time you like, whenever you want. A Club that is cost effective and does not charge too much.

  7. Mindfulness Practice: Bowls encourages mindfulness by requiring players to be fully present and focused on the task at hand. Practicing mindfulness in this way can promote relaxation and mental clarity.

Incorporating Indoor bowls into your routine can be a valuable addition to your mental health tool kit, offering a combination of physical activity, social connection, and mindfulness that contributes to overall well-being.

If you are new to bowls, you may wish to take advantage of our frequent taster events, or if you are  more experienced, either way we would be delighted to show you around.
